First day in Verbier behind us. Actually it was pretty much perfect. New powder snow, untracked lines, not too many people, and cold enough weather. Snow even on sunny sides was cold around 2500 meters. One line in rock garden and another coluar in Les Ruinettes. We looked up the lines form the lifts and hit the off piste even though avalanche warning was on level three. Now we know first hand that snow is sketchy and avalanche risk is at level three with a good reason. Snow is cold and not tied down to the slope. Mika Kankainen took a few good shots:

My backpack broke but I got it repaired in the morning. Tommi and Mika carried my gear for today. Felt like an englishman in the Himalajas. Two hikes during the first day were enough. After ski in the pub was pretty ok.
